TEAM
Elly and John Hierons have run Equestrian Centres for more than twenty five years.

They moved to Badshot Lea Equestrian Centre (BLEC) in 2005 and strived to make their Centre professional without losing the friendly family like atmosphere.

Sadly Elly lost her gallant battle against cancer in late 2020 and John now runs BLEC in partnership with Emily, who was Elly’s right hand girl and close friend.

Emily says:
“We have a great team working at the Centre. We pride ourselves on having friendly and qualified staff. You’ll always see the same smiley faces around the yard”
Emily Lemon - Business Partner, Chief Instructor – BHS Senior Coach and Stable Manager

Emily has been with us since 2006 when she first came to us as a client. She is a BHS registered Senior Coach and recently achieved her Stage 5 Stable Manager qualification. She also has a PGCE in further and higher education. Emily also has a diploma in Equine Sports Massage.

Emily successfully competed her horse Stan at low level dressage and eventing. She is now bringing on her new horse Rocky, to learn the ropes.

Emily is a very experienced and enthusiastic instructor who takes time to carefully plan enjoyable and progressive lessons. She likes to achieve goals without losing sight of individual ability and confidence. As with all our instructors she has a strong compassion for all our horses and works on ride balance to ensure the comfort of our four legged team members.
Emily runs our Pony Club and Riding Club sessions and organises all our staff and adult client training.

Amy Shadrake - Head Girl
Amy has her BHS Stage 3 coach in complete horsemanship (BHS AI). She came to us on her apprenticeship and quickly worked her way up to instructing and being integral in the yard management.

We are very proud to say that Amy won the Apprentice of the Year Award, a huge achievment for her and the team at Badshot Lea Equestrian Centre.

Amy is a very energetic and enthusiastic instructor who is particularly good with children and their lessons. She helps Emily run the Pony Club and Summer Camp.
Amy helps with the training and schooling of the livery horses and school horses and ponies and enjoys the day to day life on the yard!
Elisha Holland – Trainee Coach

Elisha came to us as an apprentice and has achieved her NVQ Level 2 in Equine Management. She now carries on her equine education, training to be a Coach by working through her BHS exams.

Elisha is an important part of the everyday running of the yard and she is brilliant with the children on Own a Pony days and beginner lessons, showing real enthusiasm for making sessions fun and informative.
She is keen to continue her training and working her way through the stage exams.
Kally Peirce – Groom

Kally started with us as a customer and is now a full time member of the BLEC staff.
She has a real passion for the care of the horses and is an integral part of the smooth running of the yard. She is a super jockey and helps school the riding school ponies.

Kally has backed her own horses and helped rehabilitation of riding school horses.
We also have our part time weekend staff Lucy and Emily and our freelance instructors Milly and Elaine. Together we dedicate ourselves to looking after our liveries and riding school horses and ponies.

John (who is also an accountant!) is kept busy keeping the centre in tip top shape and running the back office functions of the business.

John says:
“Horses can be quite destructive so maintenance is an on-going job. We always have projects on the go and in the summer just keeping the grass cut is a full time job!”
